The new Stony Brook Southampton Hospital

We are proud to announce the architectural team of Rafael Viñoly Architects and HKS Architects have been named by the Southampton Hospital Association (SHA) to design the new Stony Brook Southampton Hospital in Southampton, NY. The team was selected for their innovative approach to healthcare design that will meet the diverse needs of the East End community, and for the team’s sensitivity to the site.

The Hospital will move from its current location in the Village of Southampton to 15 acres on the Southampton campus of Stony Brook University to better allow for the creation of a state-of-the-art community facility with consolidated services, amenities, and enhanced vehicular access to services. The new hospital is anticipated to house Acute Care Beds, ICU/CCU Beds, Maternity Unit, Emergency Department, Surgical and Interventional Platform, and Ambulatory Care services including a Wellness Center, Rehabilitation, Breast Center and Wound Care Center.

For over 110 years, the Southampton Hospital Association (SHA) has been providing and maintaining access to quality healthcare for a diverse population of year-round residents, second homeowners and visitors. In 2017, Southampton Hospital became an integrated part of the Stony Brook Medicine healthcare system. SHA continues to own and maintain the facility and other East End healthcare buildings, including The Phillips Family Cancer Center, and will be responsible for building the new Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.

Design work commences today and the facility is anticipated to start construction in 2021.
